Readme

In order to make sure that SAP GUI for Java 7.70 can function properly, please check the requirements in note 2983406 - SAP GUI for Java: Requirements for Release 7.70, in particular the listed notes with the necessary corrections for the backend systems.

Release 7.70 rev 4 (November 18, 2021)

• Embedded runtime:
  • The Java runtime part of the installation has been updated to SapMachine 11.0.13+8. OpenJFX has been updated to 11.0.13.1.
• Support for New OS Versions:
  • macOS Monterey
  • Windows 11

• Themes:
  • For Quartz Dark, the background colors in ABAP lists have been corrected.
  • The borders of toggle buttons have been rendered inaccurately in various cases.
• Focus:
  • The rendering of the focus has been improved for some controls.
• Tabstrip:
  • A bug happening while setting up the tabstrip caused the screen to hang.
• Enhanced Search:
  • An inconsistency with fonts has been fixed.
• SAP Screen Personas:
  • Various problems with GuiToogleButton have been fixed.

Release 7.70 rev 3 (August 5, 2021)

• Embedded runtime:
  • The Java runtime part of the installation has been updated to SapMachine 11.0.12+7. OpenJFX has been updated to 11.0.12+4.
• Display of PDF based Content:
  • The PDFBox component has been updated to 2.0.24 (release notes).
• Support for New OS Versions:
  • openSUSE Leap 15.3
• Certificate Management:
  • For HTTPS communication a new certificate handling has been introduced to provide a secured communication between clients and servers.
  • The preferences panel for "Certificates" allows users to import their own certificates and/or accept trusted server certificates.
  • Administrators now can distribute corporate CA certificates on client computers using the customized templates mechanism.
• Html Control:
  • Support for method DRAG_ACCEPT_FILES of class CL_GUI_HTML_VIEWER has been implemented.
• File Dialogs:
  • The icons used in the file chooser dialogs have been improved.
• SAP Logon:
  • The layout of the hierarchy view has been cleaned up.

• Connections
  • An issue with messages servers queried via saprouter has been solved.
  • Shortcut files including a messages server did not work when having no SAP UI landscape defined.
• Display of PDF based Content:
  • An issue with loading fonts sometimes caused incorrect text display.
• Enhanced Search:
  • There have been cases where enhanced search has not been activated on certain fields.
• Startup:
  • In case a certificate confirmation dialog needed to be displayed during startup, it could happen, that this caused the process to hang.

Release 7.70 rev 2 (June 10, 2021)

• Embedded runtime:
  • The Java runtime part of the installation has been updated to SapMachine 11.0.11+9. OpenJFX has been updated to 11.0.11+1.
• Support for New OS Versions:
  • Fedora 34

• Connections with WAN option:
  • Screens containing radiobuttons did not work.
  • Buttons could trigger the wrong event.
• Enhanced Search:
  • Choosing a search result did not fill all related fields, but only the one the search has been initiated with.
  • Read only fields in table controls could be changed by using enhanced search.
  • There have been redraw issues with the data entered in enhanced search and the current cell data.
• Keyboard navigation:
  • On Windows and Linux, the menu shortcuts for Print Setup and Print have been removed since they had a conflict with other functionality.
  • In tree control, an issue with navigating in column trees by keyboard has been solved.
• Font Dialog:
  • It could happen, that 72 mono has not been listed in the font chooser for the "monospaced font for entry fields" option.

Release 7.70 rev 1 (April 20, 2021)

• Preferences Dialog
  • The images for previewing the themes have been improved.
• Keyboard navigation:
  • Keyboard navigation in Calendar Control has been improved.
  • The splitter sash is can be focused using Ctrl-Alt-Comma.
• Modal Dialogs:
  • In case a modal dialog does not fit on the screen, it is resized and scrollbars are shown.
• Icon font:
  • The icon font used in the themes Blue Crystal and High Contrast Black has been updated and supports new icon ids. See SAP note 3018563 for details.
• Display of PDF based Content:
  • The PDFBox component has been updated to 2.0.23 (release notes).
• macOS only
  • The window frames now honor the macOS light or dark appearance settings.

• Tree Control:
  • In some cases, checkboxes in the column tree could not be selected by mouse click.
• TextEdit Control:
  • In the ABAP Editor the keyboard shortcut for uncommenting did not work.
• JNet/JGantt Control (CL_GUI_JNET):
  • The control did not show any content, e.g. the UML diagram in the ABAP Workbench did not work.
• Display of PDF based Content:
  • In multi-page view the next and previous page buttons did't work.
• Unintended scrolling:
  • Some user actions on the screen could result in unintentionally scrolling up the window content.
• macOS only
  • Closing all windows and switching to another application and back could result in a hanging process.

Release 7.70 (March 12, 2021)

• New Themes:
  • Quartz Light
  • Quartz Dark
  • Quartz High Contrast Black
  • Quartz High Contrast White
  • Belize
• Color Schemes
  • Color Schemes are available for Quartz Light, Quartz Dark and Belize. They can be assigned to systems or even clients to clearly differentiate between test, development or productive systems and clients.
• Typography
  • 72, the typeface created to be the design language for all SAP products, is included in the installation. Both a proportional and a monospaced font is available. They can be activated in the preferences dialog on the "Design - Fonts" panel using the expert configuration.
• High Resolution Icons
  • When using one of the new themes, for session windows and all local dialogs the icons are displayed with high resolution to support HiDPI displays.
• Enhanced Search and Input History
  • The search results of the enhanced search and entries of the input history are combined in one dropdown menu. The full history list is still available on backspace.
• Installer
  • In addition to the jar based installers, new installers with a native launcher stub are available, which no longer need a preinstalled Java runtime.
• Keyboard navigation:
  • Keyboard navigation has been reviewed, some controls not having keyboard support before have been made accessible using the keyboard.
• Focus Visualization:
  • Now also the dotted focus can display an animated focus change.
  • The visualization of the focus in high contrast themes has been improved.
• Preferences Dialog
  • The preferences dialog has been modernised for the new themes.
• Documentation:
  • The manual has been reviewed and is available on the SAP Help Portal (https://help.sap.com).
  • A new document for keyboard access with a description for each UI element has been added.

• Themes:
  • The themes Corbu and High Contrast have been removed.
• Browser Applet:
  • Running as an applet in a Browser using the Java Plug-in is not longer supported, because Java 11 does not provide a Java Plug-in.
